Our story.

Rebekah Lloyd is a women’s health and careers advocate, speaker, and consultant, event and podcast host, and founder of This Independent Life. After experiencing burnout and chronic pain, a 10 year delayed endometriosis diagnosis, and career and financial challenges, she realised she wasn’t alone and started This Independent Life to advance the future of women’s health and careers and to help all people achieve health, wealth and fulfilment in life.

This Independent Life delivers talks, consulting, and events for workplaces and universities, research institutes and startups, conferences and communities. Using the awareness, knowledge and action framework, This Independent Life has now helped thousands of people around the world.

Rebekah is a UN Women UK delegate and is deeply passionate about social impact and the power of business as a force for good. This Independent Life is proud of our corporates supporting community approach and brand partnerships that not only support our clients CSR, ESG, and SDG goals but our This Independent Life pro bono, community and advocacy work.

This Independent Life hosts a first-of-its-kind conference on the Future of Endometriosis and Women’s Health, has been featured internationally including The Guardian and Nasdaq, and was recently invited to advise the UK Parliament Women and Equalities Committee for the Government Women’s Health Inquiry as a result of our work that was broadcast globally on the BBC.

Why.

In 2023, your life trajectory is still determined by many factors outside of your control, including where you’re born. And if you’re a woman, despite making up over 50% of the population you are still underserved, underrepresented, and undersupported throughout your life.

Traditional education is falling short when it comes to health, work, and money, societal issues and challenges are systemically deep rooted in these areas, and many public and private institutions and organisations aren’t supporting people to make positive change.

As an example, only 8% of FTSE 100 companies have women CEOs, just 10% of women have a stocks and shares ISA, and only 43% of women are correctly diagnosed by the healthcare system.

The ripple effect is real. It’s time to make positive change a reality, for women and everyone in society. And that's where This Independent Life comes in.
