The Future of Endometriosis conference hosted by Rebekah Lloyd and This Independent Life in London during international womens day month and endometriosis awareness month in March 2023

Future of Women’s Health.

Specialist advocacy, advisory, and support.

We advocate for those living with endometriosis and other women’s health conditions or related issues, advise and consult on research and startup innovations in the endometriosis and women’s health space, and create supportive community spaces to connect, be heard, and learn with others in a trusting and safe environment.

As an example, despite affecting 1 in 10 women endometriosis is still highly unknown and misunderstood. Endometriosis and women’s health has been underfunded and deprioritised for too long, and we need real support, education and research if there is going to be positive change. Together, we will ignite and elevate interest, investment, and innovation and make positive change a reality once and for all.

Positive change across all levels of society.

In 2023, the UK Government Women and Equalities Committee launched a new inquiry into Women’s Reproductive Health and we submitted written evidence on behalf of the This Independent Life community. We were honoured to be invited to give oral evidence in person at the UK Parliament on 8th November 2023 alongside leading institutions in the women’s health space and our evidence was broadcast globally on the BBC. Link to watch here.

We were overwhelmed at the positive feedback and responses, but this is only the beginning. This is an example of the great progress being made, but we still have a long way to go to create positive change in women’s health to enable all people to achieve health, wealth and fulfilment in life.

We welcome all enquiries for consulting, collaborations and involvement that contribute towards our mission and look forward to future opportunities to advise and advance women’s health, be it Government and policy, research and startups, and everything in between.

Conference.

On 11th March 2023, This Independent Life took things up a notch and hosted a first-of-its-kind, sold out Future of Endometriosis and Women’s Health conference in London. And due to popular demand we’re thrilled to be back hosting our next conference on 9th March 2024!

With 16 speakers, 45 partners, and almost 100 attendees, we brought together different voices and perspectives to talk about how we can collectively change the future of endometriosis, and we can’t wait to welcome the TIL community again.

Events & meet ups.

We host virtual and in-person meet ups and educational sessions to gain knowledge, guidance, and practical tips directly from an expert in the field of endometriosis and women’s health.

In our informal, relaxed, and nonjudgemental environment, This Independent Life helps to provide reputable, tried and tested, fact based information and support to the community that may be difficult to get through national health services or other means. Check out our upcoming events here.

Endometriosis and living with a women’s health condition can be lonely, but please remember you are not alone. As far as we’re concerned, everyone deserves to be heard and supported as they navigate their unique journey, period.

  • "So much can feel out of control when you are just diagnosed, it is the start of the journey, this event cleared the path and brought a lot of empowerment and clarity. It also showed what can come out of reaching out, asking for help and connecting with others that share this experience. Endometriosis will be tackled through connection and activism pushing solutions. Perfect event."

  • "This event answered many questions I had around issues such as diagnosis, the inner workings of NHS decisions when it comes to endo, new innovations and research. It was also very heart centred in that patient advocates, researchers, doctors were all in one space speaking about being on either side, finding the opportunities and limitations we all face and how we can move together towards better outcomes for all afflicted with this disease."
